Stopson Italiana has completed the supply and installation of an industrial noise barrier for an inert waste treatment and recovery plant in Sesto San Giovanni, near Milan, Italy.
Part of the facility’s expansion project, the intervention was designed to reduce noise propagation towards nearby residential areas through a customised acoustic solution.
The project: acoustic protection for a waste recovery facility
The plant operates several noise-generating machines, including a crusher, a generator set, and equipment used for handling and processing inert materials.
Stopson Italiana introduced technical improvements to the proposed acoustic solution, addressing the client’s specific noise control requirements and the plant’s operating conditions.
Industrial noise barrier: technical features

The installed solution consists of a 5-metre-high noise barrier, engineered to limit noise transmission towards surrounding residential properties.
The system includes:
- Supporting framework: hot-dip galvanised and painted, certified to UNI EN 1090.
- Fasteners: galvanised, property class 8.8.
- Acoustic panels: sound-absorbing and sound-insulating aluminium panels.
- Acoustic gate: a 4 × 4 m double-leaf gate with sound-absorbing and sound-insulating properties.
Each component was selected to meet the project’s technical specifications and deliver a tailored acoustic solution.
The results: noise reduction meeting project requirements
The intervention achieved noise attenuation levels in line with the project requirements, effectively reducing airborne noise propagation towards nearby homes.
The results demonstrate the effectiveness of a solution tailored to the specific acoustic challenges of an industrial environment.
