What the Modcon Makina acquisition changes at corporate level

Modcon Makina has merged into Stopson Makina Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş., the legal name of Stopson Italiana’s Turkish subsidiary. This company now centralises the Group’s industrial and operational activities in Türkiye.

The business continues to operate under the Stopson Türkiye brand for engineered soundproofing products and Modcon brand for industrial carpentries.

One point of contact across the whole project

Above all, the integration gives Stopson Italiana control over every stage of a project. The team follows the work from the analysis of noise sources and operating conditions, to the definition of the acoustic solution, and then through manufacturing, installation and on-site support.

For customers, this means a single point of contact. In addition, it ensures continuity between the specifications drawn up during the engineering phase and their implementation at the plant.

A manufacturing hub for international projects

The Turkish facility produces silencers and integrated noise-control systems for power plants, Oil & Gas facilities and industrial infrastructure.

Moreover, a direct presence in Türkiye strengthens the Group across the Eurasian region and MENA countries. Consequently, Stopson can respond faster to the technical and operational demands of international projects.

The project introduced technical improvements to an acoustic solution based on noise shielding systems, with the goal of reducing noise propagation toward the residential receivers located near the plant area.

Acoustic mitigation intervention for a railway maintenance facility

Stopson Italiana managed the supply of a noise barrier for the maintenance facility of Trenord S.r.l., a leading company in regional rail public transport.

The intervention was carried out at the Novate Milanese site and involved the acoustic protection of residential receivers located close to the pumping station and the fire-fighting water reserve.

Project objective

The aim of the project was the reduction of airborne noise propagation generated by a metal structure housing two electric circulation pumps, connected to several mechanical devices.

The solution was developed to improve acoustic comfort in the surrounding areas and ensure performance aligned with the targets required by the Customer.

Features of the Stopson Italiana noise barrier

The supply included the installation of sound-absorbing and sound-insulating aluminium panels,

with the following characteristics:

• barrier height: 4.5 m

• material: sound-absorbing and sound-insulating aluminium

• installation: fixed to the existing reinforced concrete foundation

This configuration was designed to ensure effective acoustic shielding in a sensitive infrastructure environment, where it was necessary to contain the noise generated by technological equipment.

Required acoustic performance and achieved results

One of the most relevant aspects of the project was the achievement of the required attenuation values near the receivers.

60 years of leadership and projects worldwide. International Certifications. In 2025, Stopson Italiana successfully completed the first U-Stamp certified inline silencer project, intended for two-stage industrial compressors for the US market. The certification, issued according to Section VIII of the ASME Code, allows the production and marketing of pressure equipment compliant with the most stringent US standards and product registration with the National Board, ensuring traceability and legal compliance in industrial plants. The silencers, designed with advanced engineering analysis, offer high acoustic and mechanical performance, reducing vibrations and resonances. Since 2011, the company has also held the PED 2014/68/EU certification, issued by the notified bodies Eurofins and 3D-Incerta, which allows it to supply pressure equipment with calculations, design and production controlled and certified according to the PED categories and with CE conformity. In 2016, Stopson Italiana obtained the EAC CU-TR certification, in compliance with the technical regulations of the Euroasian Customs Union, which allows it to export a wide range of silencers to the Eurasian and Kazakh markets. The project involved the supply of in-line silencers for two-stage compressors for a well-known U.S. rotating machinery manufacturer, a major player in the global industrial scene.

Each silencer is designed to meet precise acoustic, fluid dynamic, and mechanical requirements tailored to the operating characteristics of the compressors. The design has been optimized to ensure high performance in terms of noise abatement and structural reliability.

Performance and safety, a comprehensive engineering approach

Noise control under all operating conditions

The silencers were engineered with adequate safety margins to ensure effective noise attenuation, even under the most demanding operating conditions. Acoustic analyses played a key role in validating the expected performance.

Prevention of acoustic and mechanical resonances

Frequency analyses were conducted to avoid the occurrence of resonance phenomena, considering the rotational speeds of the compressors and the natural frequencies of the proposed assemblies. Optimization of geometry, stiffness, and mass distribution allowed the elimination of vibrational issues along the entire operating range.

Certified indoor cleaning

As with all products connected directly to compressors, advanced manufacturing techniques were used to ensure theabsence of particles greater than 100 microns. Internal cleanliness was certified by flux tests performed during final testing.

U-Stamp certification, a guarantee of quality and global compliance

What is U-Stamp Certification

U-Stamp certification is an official recognition issued by theAmerican Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for pressure equipment built according to Section VIII of the ASME Code. It is a mandatory requirement for marketing such equipment in the U.S. market.

Technical and operational advantages

Thanks to this certification, every stage of the production process, from design to manufacturing and testing, follows strict and traceable procedures. Material, welding and inspection choices are made according to the strictest international standards, minimizing the risk of failure or malfunction.

Tracking and registration with the National Board

One of the main advantages of U-Stamp certification is the ability to register products with the U.S. National Board, an essential step for the legal installation of pressurized equipment in the United States.

The plant, characterized by sections for cogeneration, boiler heating, thermal exchange, and summer cooling energy production, required targeted acoustic solutions to address the noise generated by ventilation and air-conditioning units.

Stopson Italiana installed two distinct types of noise barriers:

Open acoustic barrier

Positioned at a height of 6 meters and secured to the building’s exterior wall with brackets and uprights, this 3.5-meter-tall barrier is designed to absorb and isolate sound from ventilation groups. Its structure combines acoustic steel panels, offering high performance in noise reduction.

Closed acoustic barrier

Installed on the building’s roof, this 2.5-meter-tall barrier is complemented by acoustic louvers to ensure airflow while reducing noise from air-conditioning units. This enclosed design effectively prevents noise propagation in open environments.

The barriers achieved noise reductions exceeding the client’s expectations, with performance metrics including:

• 7 dB attenuation for the open barrier.
• 5 dB attenuation for the closed barrier.

RDM Cartonboard Project: Technical Details

The RDM Cartonboard plant includes a CPR-50 steam generator capable of producing up to 50,700 kg/h of steam at 12 bar. Stopson Italiana contributed with the installation of two custom silencers to optimize acoustic performance and ensure compliance with noise regulations.

SPM Multi-Inlet Silencer

Functioning Principle and Advantages

The steam vent silencer model SPM was designed to combine all steam lines into a single body. This system allows for the simultaneous operation of two lines, each equipped with a specific diffuser that directs the flow toward the upper absorbing section.

Thanks to this configuration, Stopson Italiana achieved two key objectives:

• High acoustic performance: noise reduction to 85 dB(A) at one meter.
• Space optimization: the compact design of the silencer minimizes footprint while maintaining high noise absorption efficiency.

SVC Silencer with Core

Customized Design

The SVC model, designed with a three-concentric-ring structure and flanged casing, was specifically developed for bypass lines. This device uses sound-absorbing materials protected by perforated sheets, ensuring optimal performance with minimal pressure loss.

Applications and Performance

The SVC silencer ensures high operational efficiency even at operating temperatures up to 100°C, making it an ideal solution for soundproofing ventilation ducts and bypass systems.
