Clean Energy and Environmental Sustainability: the OMC 2017 turns toward “green” policies

Trade show and scientific roundtables: the Offshore Mediterranean Conference will host more than 1,300 delegates and 650 international exhibitors

Rome – From transition to a low carbon economy, to the role of the Mediterranean as a gas hub.

To meet the growing demand for energy of the future (+ 30% to 2035) the representatives of the Mediterranean countries together with some of the highest levels of the oil & gas industry will meet within the International Offshore Mediterranean Conference (OMC), the biennial conference and trade show dedicated to the upstream operator that will be held in Ravenna, next March 29-31. The thirteenth edition of the OMC 2017, has been presented last week in the Ministry of Economic Development in Rome. The main focus of the opening session held by Minister Carlo Calenda (March 29, 10.30am) will be titled “Transition to a sustainable energy mix: the contribution of oil and gas“. The plenary conference will be also attended by the Ministers of Energy of Egypt, Iraq, Cyprus, Lebanon and Greece, together with Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, and Edison, Marc Benayoum.

This event will represent an important opportunity to compare the energy and climate policies of the Mediterranean countries. But also a workshop for summarizing the different contribution that the main players could give in in order to achieve sustainability’ objectives“.

The Offshore Mediterranean Conference and Exhibition, the main showcase oil and gas in the Mediterranean basin, which will see the participation of over 1,300 delegates, representatives of producer countries not only in the Mediterranean but also Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. Within a ​​30 thousand square meters area will be hosted 650 exhibitors from 30 countries, the presence of all the major European oil company of North Africa and Middle East.

Started in 1993 as a regional event, in its more than 20 years of activity OMC has experienced a remarkable growth in terms of attendance figures, exhibiting companies and conference quality, achieving an international status. It is now worldwide recognized as a key event within the Oil & Gas sector, the Offshore Industry and the related services.
